Judith "Judy" Diehl

Please join us in remembering our mother Judith (Lahnan) Diehl, who passed away on September 16, 2026.  Judy was born May 24, 1943, to the late Laurie and Mary Lahnan.  Judy was a dedicated wife, a remarkable mother, and doting grandmother “Amie” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the heart of our family, providing endless patience, wisdom, and unconditional love in every moment of our lives.  Above all, Judy was a generous caregiver to anyone in need.  In 2019 Judy lost her high school sweetheart and love of her life, her husband David G. Diehl.  Their marriage was a beautiful testament to a lifetime of love, and steadfast devotion to the very end.  Judy was also preceded in death by her son, David L. Diehl, great-granddaughter, Addalie Diehl, brothers Larry, Bob, Jerry and Donnie Lahnan; In-laws Ernest and Doris Diehl, Ray Diehl, Karen Ylisaari and Mary Jane Lahnan.  She is survived by her children, Lori Adamson (Greg), Connie Petrianni (Paul), Brian Diehl (Stephanie), daughter-in-law, Julie Diehl, and sister, Sr. Mary Laureen SSpS (Connie).  Also surviving are her grandchildren: Ariel, Blayne, Addison, Connor, Alyssa, Ashton, Dominic, Paul, Damius, Josh, Caleb and Kierstin, ten great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Erika Lahnan, Renalda Lahnan, and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Her love of God guided Judy, and she was extremely active in her parish, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was a dedicated member of the Catering Crew, participating member of the Ladies of the Rosary and was active in the Cursillo movement.  Our Mom’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease was a difficult and heartbreaking journey; but there were many peaceful days filled with laughter, joy and grace.  Before her passing Judy received loving care from the staff at Crawford Care Center, along with the staff at Gentiva Hospice.  To honor our mother’s legacy; be loving, nurturing and kind, enjoy a good book or poem, improvise a song lyric, savor a great cup of coffee, give a dog a great life, tap into your inner child, and fall in love deeply and forever.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  Per Judy’s wishes, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the family.  The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements.  To light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit www.matterafuneralhome.com
