Phyllis “Cookie” Marie (Fucci) Giewont passed away on July 11, 2026. Born on April 19, 1934, the youngest daughter of James and Mary (Marendo) Fucci, she met the love of her life, Charles T. Giewont, Sr., while waitressing at her family’s Italian restaurant. They spent 62 years together following their marriage on April 24, 1954. Phyllis missed Chuck every day after his death ten years ago and is now joyously reunited with him. After the early years of marriage, Phyllis balanced operating a farm and motherhood with attending college, eventually obtaining a master’s degree in education. She dedicated her career to the third graders at Cussewago Elementary School and is remembered by her students not only for her skill as a teacher but also for allowing them to play the Atari after finishing their work. A remarkable cook known for her homemade spaghetti and cinnamon rolls, she prepared wonderful meals for family gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, maintaining her garden and yard, and shopping—especially at the rummage sale at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member for most of her life. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helene and Carmella. She is survived by a son, Charles “Chuck” Giewont Jr. and his wife, Darla, of Albion, their two daughters, Gail Giewont and Autumn Dudick (Jeremy), and Autumn’s twins, daughter River and son Jerrin; a son, William “Bill” Giewont and his wife, Debbie, of Carlisle, their two sons, Eric Giewont (Lori) and Matthew Giewont (Katie), and Matthew’s sons, Owen and Caleb; a daughter, Mary Ann Delenko and her husband, Edward, of Pittsburgh, their two sons, Alexander Delenko (Julia) and Bradley Delenko (Kalie), Bradley’s son Bennett, and several nieces and nephews.
