Bernadette "Sue" Hudacky Wadsworth, 70, of West Springfield, Pennsylvania, received her eternal reward on July 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at UPMC Hamot, following a diagnosis of cancer late last year. Sue was born January 10, 1956, and grew up in Cranesville, Pa on Hudacky’s Curve - a bend in the road named for her family, who owned a small gas station there. The youngest of three siblings, Sue stayed close to the family farm, helping care for her mother there and marrying her late husband, Ray Wadsworth in 1974. Together they would raise three children in the same home — Eric, Laura, and Alex — and though Sue would end up being "Ma" to many more young people over the years, those three were the apple of her eye. Sue had an instinct to protect the vulnerable — whether family, friend, or animal. Over the years she took in and cared for countless animals, but one in particular stole her heart… pitbulls. They carry an unfair reputation, and too many bear the scars of abuse at human hands. But that was exactly the kind of soul — animal or human — that Sue was drawn to. Those were the ones she helped: the ones who needed someone to see past the damage and love them anyway. Life handed her more than her share of heartbreak, yet she remained unmistakably Sue.  She found a way to laugh anyway (usually before anyone else did). She had a sharp wit and a way of making hard days feel a little lighter. She believed there was always room for one more at her table, one more story to hear, one more person who simply needed a soft place to land. She never met a stranger, never turned anyone away, and quietly sat beside many in their final days. She leaves behind no great fortune or monument — only something far more lasting: a lifetime of people who are better because they knew her, loved by so many because she spent her life loving without keeping score.  Sue is survived by her beloved children, Eric (Robin) Wadsworth of Cranesville and Laura (Brian) Brooks of West Springfield, and daughter-in-law Hayley Shiley; her adoring grandchildren Sophie, Arla, Emma, Ryan, Mia, and Lainey; her brother James (Cathy) Hudacky; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a very special friend Shelly Westerburg.  She is also survived by her best friend, hubby and soulmate, Chuck English. Meeting him was like a second chance at life — Chuck made her feel young again. He brought her an all-consuming joy that few are lucky enough to experience in this life. Their connection was palpable, enduring, and rare; and Sue was changed forever.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophie Hudacky; her brother, John Hudacky; her husband, Ray Wadsworth; and her beloved son, Alex Wadsworth.  Friends may call at Mattera Funeral Home in Albion, Pa., Friday, July 10, 2026 from 5–7 p.m., with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League.  To have been loved by Sue was a gift. To have known her was a blessing.
