Stephen Franklyn Onest

Stephen Franklyn Onest, 83, of Fairview, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born August 21, 1940 in Pageville, Erie County, a son of the late Dennis and Anna (Jafko) Onest. Steve was a 1958 graduate of Albion Area High School. After graduation he joined the United States Coast Guard, spending time in the Philippines serving as a radio operator. After completing his service he returned to the local area and worked as an electrician. He was employed by and retired as a lineman from Penelec.

Steve enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians.

He is survived by brother Joseph D. Onest, sister-in-law Lois A. Onest, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Michael D. Onest and John P. Onest, sister Eleanor H. (Onest) Krause, brother-in-law Paul Krause, and sister-in-law Arlene Onest.

No funeral services will be held at this time. His family and friends will honor him with a celebration of his life that will be held at a later date.

Steve helped me out on so many occasions with electric problems, helped me do outdoor lights, and helped me dig a trench to put in new wiring. Always willing always smiling ,he will be missed.

So sorry for your loss.
Steve was our neighbor in Fairview for years and a fellow Albion Alumni of my mom’s (Joan Rausch Paulson).
So many happy memories of our years in Princess Anne with Steve as a fixture in many of them.
