Kenneth Leslie "Ken" Steinhoff

Kenneth Leslie "Ken" Steinhoff, 85, of Albion, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Rolling Fields Elder Care Center surrounded by his loving family.  He was born at home in Wellsburg, PA on November 8, 1937, son of the late Lawrence Ellsworth and Lillian Leslie (Graham) Steinhoff.  Ken graduated from Albion High School, Class of 1955 and he completed a DeVry Electronics correspondence course after graduation from High School.  He served with the United States Army National Guard where he trained troops on the 106 recoilless rifle which was used on military jeeps.  Ken, along with his wife, Bobbie, owned and operated Steinhoff’s Golden Dawn Foods in Albion.  He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, 60-year member of Western Star Masonic Lodge #304 F&AM, past Potentate of Zem Zem Shrine Temple in 1993, past President Arab Patrol and ROJ Court #58, member of Albion Chapter #22 Order of Eastern Star, member of Grace United Methodist Church in Albion, and a life member of the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Sherman.  Ken is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” (Mischler) Steinhoff, two daughters, Renae Lynn Nutting (Ron), Leslie Ann Desin, six grandchildren, Eric Heaven (Jessica), Matthew Desin, Jeffrey Heaven, Leslie “Nicole” Desin, Katherine Sedler (Justin), Trisha Desin, a great-granddaughter, two great-grandsons, and another great-granddaughter expected in March, a brother-in-law, Larry Sherman, and several nieces and nephews.  Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held there on Wednesday at 11am with Pastor J. Mark Hurst officiating.  Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Wellsburg.  Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA  16505 or to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department, 9920 Meadville Street, Cranesville, PA  16410.  To light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit

Jesus was the first to shed a tear at Ken’s passing and what a comfort to know Ken is now resting in His Everlasting Arms.
