Douglas J. "Doug" Fuller
Douglas James Fuller, 71, of Albion, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital following a sudden and brief illness. He was born November 20, 1950 in Conneaut, OH, a son of the late William “Walter” and Lucy (Merritt) Fuller. He graduated from Northwestern High School Class of 1968 and New Castle Business College prior to joining the US Army. Doug married Marilyn Mihalak on May 20, 1978 at St. Lawrence Church. They shared 43 “wonderful” years raising their family and working together. Doug owned and operated Fuller Home Furnishings in Albion and Fuller Custodial Services (FCS) prior to his retirement. Doug was very active in the local community, serving on Albion Boro Council, Water and Sewer Authority, Chamber of Commerce, Saint Lawrence Parish Council, Love INC, and currently a board member for the Northwestern Community Educational Foundation. Doug enjoyed spending summer evenings visiting on the front porch and was a talented wood-worker building custom cabinetry and he shared his building talents with his sons. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Eric, daughter-in-law Ashley, and Matthew, a brother, Daniel Fuller (Sandra) of California, only surviving uncle, George Fuller, sister-in-law, Sue Mihalak, brother-in-law, Tom Mihalak (Carol), and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Friday from 3pm – 7pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made in honor of Doug to the Northwestern Community Educational Foundation, 100 Harthan Way, Albion, PA 16401. We will always have fond memories with Doug starting with the years with the Albion Area Jaycees to the hilarious days we spent camping. But mostly the times spent on the front porch where we would sit and enjoy the warm summer nights. You will always be in our hearts Doug.
