Stephen M. "Sonny" Krolczyk

Stephen M. “Sonny” Krolczyk, age 83 of Albion, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of the late Stephen & Elizabeth Krolczyk and Mary Speich. Sonny graduated from New Lyme High School. He served in the US Army. He retired from General Electric after 36 years. Sonny loved sports, whether it was as a participant or a spectator. He played many years on fastpitch, slowpitch and modified softball teams. He also spent many years playing golf, bowling, swimming, and playing cards weekly with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic Browns & Indians fan, through the good and the bad times. Sonny loved hosting the annual Polish sausage making party which made the Christmas season one of the favorites for the Krolczyk family. Sonny was a dedicated family man. He loved to be surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an active member of the St. Phillip Parish where he raised his family in the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Johnaton Swan; sisters, Jeanie Krolczyk, Irene Przewozny; stepbrothers, Edward Fortman, John Fortman; and his beloved dogs Benji, Princess, Snickers. Sonny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Krolczyk; children, Susan Schulze (Greg), Deborah Shaffer (Jeffery), Stephen Krolczyk (Lou Anne), Anthony Krolczyk (Terry), Theresa Holland (John), William Krolczyk; sisters, Theresa Walker, Mary Anne Scherer; brother, Richard Krolczyk (Karen); half-sister, Mary Lou Sadowsky (George), step-sister, Barbara Kent. He is further survived by thirteen grandchildren, Sharon, Rachel (Jay), Bridget (Justin), Desiree, Brittany, Tiffany (John), Amanda, Mackenna, Justine, Meghan, Joel (Sara), Heather (Robert), Casey; and 19 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the people who went above and beyond to assist the family, including the hospice staff at the VNA and Dr. Streiff. Friends may call at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 E State St, Albion, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 2PM to 4PM, 6PM to 8PM. A prayer service will be held there at 9AM, Thursday, June 17, 2021, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Phillip Catholic Church, 25797 Rt 98, Edinboro, PA at 10AM. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W. 38th St, Erie, PA 16508, the VNA of Erie County, 2253 W.
