Lawrence E. "Larry" Godwin
Lawrence E. “Larry” Godwin, 67, of Springboro, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, after complications from the Covid-19 virus. He was born in Meadville on August 22, 1953, son of the late Lawrence B. and Geraldine (Rudler) Godwin. Larry graduated from Conneaut Valley High School. He retired as a welder/fabricator from Van Air Systems in Lake City after over 25 years of service. Larry attended the United Church of Springboro. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid fan of rodeo, horses and roping. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca “Becky” (Sowry) Godwin, whom he married October 4, 1974, a daughter, Laura Mealy and her husband, Darren, of Meadville, a son, Thomas “TJ” Godwin and his wife, Amy, of Springboro, four grandchildren, Caden and Kendall Mealy, Heath and Quinn Godwin, a sister, Pat Patterson and her husband, Roger, of Swansboro, NC. Also surviving are extended family members and many close friends. Memorials may be made in honor of Larry to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements. Our hearts are breaking for all of you. Larry was such a sweet guy with a huge heart and great sense of humor. He was such a great dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and cousin. He will be truly missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
