Donald B. "Don" Copeland


Donald B. “Don” Copeland, 73, of Albion, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital.  He was born October 5, 1947 in Erie, a son of the late Walter and Doris (Rausch) Copeland.  He was Albion’s Raceway manager for a time.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting and raising fish.  He worked at Rogers Brothers Corp. as a welder for over 40 years and he retired from there.  Don was a proud veteran of the US Army and served as a clinical specialist in Vietnam.  He also served in other parts of the country.  Don is survived by his loving family, wife Nancy, son Mike of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, his daughter Ferris and his stepdaughter Chloe, daughter Melissa Corder (Clay) of East Springfield, their sons Kyle and Kaine, son Matthew (April) of West Springfield, their children Alicia, Allison, Evangelina, Orion, Alan, Arrow, daughter Rachael Patterson (James) of Albion, their sons Alexander and Zackary, son Patrick (Jenna) of Cranesville, and their daughter Evelyn.  Further survived by brother Alan (Sherry), sister Carolyn Enssle (Duane), brother Ronald (Erica), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Wednesday from 2pm until the time of a funeral service there at 4pm with Pastor Allan Thorpe officiating.  Strict CDC guidelines of limiting the number of people, wearing face coverings and social distancing will be followed.  Burial will be private by the family.  To send flowers, light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit
