Edna Jean Soltis
Edna “Jean” Soltis, age 92, a lifelong Cranesville resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep at LECOM Senior Living Facility on December 18, 2020. Jean was the daughter of Charles and Ruby Whitford Eldridge. She graduated from Conneautville High School in 1946. Jean met Bob at the Shadeland Skating Rink, and they married in 1948. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary before Bob passed away in 2014. Jean was a stay-at-home mother who supported her children’s school activities as a cheerleader mom, Little League scorekeeper, Girl Scout leader, and member of the NHS Exchange Student program. She was also active member of her community. Jean served as an elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she once taught Sunday school, a Lioness, and Republican Committee chairwoman. At the young age of 50, she pursued a career as a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant. Her career lasted 35 years and was quite a run! Jean is survived by her three children: Marsha (John) Hiller of Port Huron, Michigan; Brenda (Chuck) Whitney of Harborcreek, and Bobby (Leslie) Soltis of Albion, seven grandchildren (Brooke, Jessica, Ryan, Rachel, Summer, Nick, and Shannon), and nine great-grandchildren (Montana, Shane, Lexi, Piper, Miles, Amelia, Liam, Calvin, and Finnley). The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by Heather and her family. Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Eldridge and is survived by her sister, Erma Castrilla of Conneaut, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Bethel Belles, Bethel Presbyterian Church (Cranesville, PA) or the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will be private with a memorial service held at a later date. The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements.
